It’s important to have a mobile site, and I’ve covered the whys in past articles. But once you have your mobile site up and running, as important as form is, it also needs to be functional.
Mobile sites should be helping businesses connect with their customers. The first step to driving those connections is getting where your customers are. The second step is getting out in front of them so you get noticed. So how’s that accomplished?
Search + SEO
Mediative’s “Spotlight on Local Mobile Consumer Behavior” reports that over two-thirds of mobile consumers use search engines like Google or Bing to find local businesses. Simply, this means a local business wants their mobile site to be easily found by these search engines.
It’s not just about getting found though, because search engines tend to return pages of results. As important as it is to be found, one also wants to rank well in the results (meaning show up higher on the list of returned websites), so customers are more likely to notice you over your competition. One way to drive your page ranking is by helping search engines know that your site is relevant to what’s being searched for.
A new feature release introduces full support for SEO page titles, page descriptions and keywords. Not only can individual pages be ‘SEO’d', but we’ve also included the ability to enter in SEO defaults for an entire mobile site as both time saver and safety net.
